Cricketers’ wifey troubles: From Dhawan to Slater, cricketers in trouble owing to their better halves –

Clarke landed in huge controversy, when he was publicly slapped by girlfriend Jade Yarbrough for cheating with former girlfriend Pip Edwards. The former Australia captain’s not-so-famous public fight made him lose a few endorsement deals. He was also stripped from the broadcasting panel for the India-Australia Test series.

Here at InsideSport, we take a look at five such cricketers, who landed in huge trouble owing to their wives

1. Shikhar Dhawan

Dhawan revealed Aesha circulated defamatory messages to the CEO of the IPL franchise Delhi Capitals, Dheeraj Malhotra, with the aim to make his image bad in front of him. Meanwhile, Patiala House Court Judge, Harish Kumar has asked Aesha not to circulate any message or post anything on social media that would tamper with the cricketer’s image. “Reputation of a person is dear to everyone and is considered as the property of the highest degree because materialistic property can be regained after the loss but reputation cannot be regained once damaged.

Therefore, in these circumstances, she is hereby restrained till further order from circulating any of her grievance against Dhawan or her version of the dispute involved herein or the alleged defamatory and false material against him, to social media, to print media, or to any other’ forum or friends, relatives or colleagues of the parties,” Judge Kumar added.

2. Vinod Kambli

Vinod Kambli, a former Indian cricketer, is in hot water once more. In the latest, his wife Andrea Hewitt has accused him of harassing and assaulting her in a Bandra (West) apartment on Friday while allegedly under the influence of alcohol. According to the Bandra Police, Kambli has an FIR filed against him under IPC sections 504 (insult) and 324 (willful infliction of harm with dangerous weapons).

After this incident, Kambli turned off his phone.

Andrea Kambli, the complaint’s author, stated: “Despite trying to pacify him, he abused me and my son for no reason. He charged at us. After hitting the cooking panhandle, he charged again with a bat. I managed to stop him before leaving with my son, and rushed to the hospital.”

3. Michael Clarke

Clarke had a public altercation with PARTNER. Footage of the blow-up, initially published by The Daily Telegraph. Clarke and his partner were filmed by a bystander outside a restaurant in Noosa on January 10.

In the video, Yarborugh can be heard accusing Clarke of cheating on her with his celebrity fashion designer ex-girlfriend Pip Edwards.

The 41-year-old can be heard continually denying the claim. His partner was seen slapping him across the face at one point during the screaming match.

4. Michael Slater

Slater was charged with domestic violence but avoided jail time in a Sydney local court verdict. Magistrate Ross Hudson ordered Slater to undergo a 12-month treatment plan under the care of a doctor.

The 52-year-old Slater, who worked as a television commentator after retiring from international cricket, was charged by New South Wales state police last October with stalking and intimidation of his ex-partner.

He later breached a restraining order by using a mobile phone to call and send dozens of text messages to his ex-partner and, in December, was ordered to check into a mental health facility as a condition of bail.

5. Mohammed Shami

A few years back, Indian cricket was shaken by a scandalous controversy involving the Indian speedster – Mohammad Shami.

M Shami’s wife Hasin Jahan filed an allegation against the Indian pacer for having extra-marital affairs which haven’t been proven yet.

She also released Shami’s personal chats with other females which M Shami later denied. Currently, the Kolkata court has ordered Shami to pay 1.30 lakhs per month to Hasin Jahan.
