We are into the final end of the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT), with only three more matches to go. After an exciting round of the quarter-finals, it is time for the semi-finals. One semi-final each will be played on January 15 and 16, with Karnataka locking horns with Vidarbha today (Thursday).
Fascinatingly, it is the repeat of last year’s final when Karnataka beat Vidarbha by 38 runs to win their fifth Vijay Hazare Trophy final at Vadodra. This year, Karnataka, under Mayank Agarwal, has almost the same batting lineup if not better, with Karun Nair switching back to his state from Vidarbha. Devdutt Padikkal has been the engine house of this team and is having a dream season, having scored 721 runs at an unbelievable average of 103.00.
As for Vidarbha, they have their best player in the opening position as well in the form of Aman Mokhade. The youngster is just behind Padikkal in the runs tally with 643 runs at 91.86. Yash Rathod and Dhruv Shorey add stability to the batting group, while the exciting Yash Thakur holds the key in the bowling department alongside captain Harsh dubey.
