Former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad has been elected as the new president of the KSCA on December 7, as per a report in Cricbuzz. Prasad from the Team Game Changers faction won against KN Shanth Kumar, who was backed by Brijesh Patel.
Venkatesh Prasad Assumes New Role
Prasad, leading Team Game Changers, saw off competition from KN Shanth Kumar who was part of the team backed by Brijesh Patel. But then there was not much of a challenge for Prasad and his panel. Meanwhile, Sujith Somasundar was elected as the vice-president of the KSCA, competing against D Vinod Sivappa.
The Prasad-led panel had always spoken about cricket returning to Chinnaswamy Stadium, following the stampede during the RCB celebrations, following their IPL 2025 win. In fact, the deputy CM of Karnataka, DK Shivakumar, who is also a lifetime member of the KSCA too cast his vote.
He had said, “Will not allow IPL matches to be shifted out of Chinnaswamy stadium. This is a question of Bengaluru and Karnataka’s pride. We will ensure IPL matches are held here. I am a cricket fan. We will ensure that such incidents don’t recur in the future and uphold the reputation of the stadium. We will also build a new cricket stadium as an alternative.“
