Tamil Nadu name squad for Ranji Trophy 2025-26, key names missing

The Ranji Trophy 2025-26 will commence on October 15, and will be played in two phases until January next year.

The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association on Tuesday named the 16-member squad for the upcoming Ranji Trophy season 2025/26. N Jagadeesan, who is currently playing for South Zone in the Duleep Trophy, was named as the skipper, while Pradosh Ranjan Paul was named his deputy.

No Sai Kishore, Sai Sudharsan in Tamil Nadu Squad

Jagadeesan, who had made it to the Indian squad for the England Tests, is a stand-in skipper for Sai Kishore, who is injured now, and missed the Buchi Babu Trophy, and the Duleep Trophy as well. The side obviously did not have all-rounder Vijay Shankar, who made a move from Tamil Nadu, to Tripura.

Ranji Trophy Begins from Oct 15

But nonetheless, the team was still full of known names –with the seasoned Baba Indrajith, along with M Shahrukh Khan, and Sandeep Warrier still around. Latest pace sensation in the country, who is much talked about these days. Gurjapneet Singh too was named in the squad.

One of the players to watch out this year for the team would be fast-bowling all-rounder RS Ambrish, who was mighty impressive in the recent IND U19 vs ENG U19 series, where he scored tons of runs, and picked up wickets as well. Surprisngly, Sai Sudharsan was missing from the squad as well, but there is no clarity if the batter is nursing an injury.

Tamil Nadu full squad: N. Jagadeesan (WK) ( C ), Pradosh Ranjan Paul (VC), B. Indrajith, Shahrukh Khan, Vimal Khumar, B. Sachin, Andre Siddarth, R. S Ambrish, P Vidyuth, D. T Chandrasekar, Sandeep Warrier, Gurjapneet Singh, C.V Achyuth,Trilok Nag, J Hemchudesan, G. Ajitesh G (WK).
