Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma was spotted at Mumbai’s Kokilaben Hospital on Monday night, creating immediate concern among fans. A video that surfaced online showed Rohit walking briskly into the hospital while avoiding questions from photographers. With no official word on the reason behind his visit, speculation quickly spread on social media, with fans sending him messages of support and hoping for good news.
Rohit is on the verge of returning to international cricket, with India scheduled to play Australia in a three-match ODI series starting October 19 at Optus Stadium, Perth. His return, alongside Virat Kohli, is one of the most awaited storylines in Indian cricket this year. Both men have been absent from the field since India’s ICC Champions Trophy triumph in June. This is because they have already retired from Tests and T20 internationals.

Not long ago, Rohit cleared his fitness test at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, a crucial step in his preparation for the Australia series. He has already retired from two formats, meaning his focus is now squarely on prolonging his ODI career. At 38, the opener is managing his workload carefully as India looks to phase into a transition period while still depending on his experience at the top of the order. He eyes the ODI World Cup 2027.
Earlier this year, Rohit formally ended his Test career after 67 matches in which he scored 4,301 runs at an average of 40.58, including 12 centuries. Reflecting on the longest format at a CEAT event in Mumbai, he admitted that the grind was both mentally and physically demanding. “Especially in the Test format, you have to last five days. Mentally, it is very challenging and draining as well. But all cricketers have been brought up playing First-Class cricket, so you learn to cope with it,” Rohit said.
