South Africa spinner Prenelan Subrayen has found himself in hot water. The 31-year-old has been booked for a suspect bowling action following the ODI vs Australia. The left-arm spinner made his debut in Cairns on Tuesday, and will have to undergo an assessment.
Prenelan Subrayen reported for suspect bowling action
Prenelan Subrayen’s dream debut has turned into a nightmare. The 31-year-old was flagged by the match official on his action. As per the ICC report, there are concerns about the legality of Subrayen’s action. He will undergo an Independent Assessment of his bowling action at an ICC Accredited Testing facility.
Subrayen bowled 10 overs in Cairns, finishing with figures of 1/46. He had made his Test debut last month in South Africa’s Test series against Zimbabwe. The left-armer had picked up a four-wicket haul on debut.
Subrayen has thus been ruled out of the remaining 2 ODIs. That comes as a huge blow for Temba Bavuma, who also lost Kagiso Rabada to an injury. The CSA have yet to release a statement or announce a replacement.
The final two games of the series will be played at Mackay, on August 22 and 24.
