It has been ages since one heard about pacer Shivam Mavi, who first burst on to the scene in the U19 World Cup in 2018. Since then, he went on to play 6 T20Is for Team India in 2023, but has been off the radar in the last couple of years. Injuries have plagued him in the last few years, and his last IPL appearance was only in 2022.
Shivam Mavi Impressive for Kashi Rudras
But then it seems, the 26-year-old is on a comeback mission and is doing fairly well in the UPT20, that kicked off on August 17. Turning up for the Kashi Rudras on Monday, Shivam Mavi came up with an all-round performance to remember. that saw his side beat Gaur Gorakhpur Lions by a massive 50 runs.
Slams 21-ball 54, Picks Three Wickets
After opting to bat first, Kashi Rudras were in a major spot of bother, where they were reeling at 89/7 at one stage, but then Mavi secured the ship from there on. Coming in at No. 8 to bat, the youngster scored 54 from only 21 deliveries, that involved six sixes and no fours. He also added 87 runs with Shiva Singh, who also scored a whirlwind 34 from 17 deliveries.
Come the bowling, Mavi continued his effort there, and picked up three wickets for only 24 runs. He got rid of Akshdeep Nath, Hardeep Singh, and Shivam Sharma. That performance went a long way in paving the winning route for the Rudras. That also means, at the end of the 1st round, the team is on the top of the pile, with an NRR of +2.500.
