Ex-Indian cricketer Anjum Chopra said that two youngsters in the side had impressed her the most in the Women's World Cup 2025

Former India women’s cricket team star Anjum Chopra heaped praise on youngsters Kranti Goud and Shree Charani for their performance in the Women’s World Cup 2025. Harmanpreet Kaur and co. created history on November 2 by defeating South Africa Women by 52 runs in the final to lay their hands on their maiden WC trophy. Chopra revealed that she was mighty impressed by the performances of Kranti and Charani in the tourney.

Chopra heaps praise on Kranti, Goud

Speaking to NDTV, Chopra lavished praise on the young duo of Kranti and Charani for putting up commendable performances in their maiden World Cup. She said that while she was not surprised by their show, the two youngsters surely impressed her more than any other senior in the Indian women’s cricket team.

What impressed me the most was how Shree Charani and Kranti Goud played in this World Cup. This was their first appearance, and they are just six months into the Indian team. The way these two youngsters performed and delivered at the highest level was remarkable. I wouldn’t say I was surprised, but they impressed me more than any senior player in the team,” Chopra said.

22-year-old Kranti finished with 8 wickets to her name while 21-year-old Shree bagged 14 scalps in the Women’s World Cup 2025. Both youngsters had made their WODI debut earlier this year.

What about Renuka Thakur?

Chopra revealed that she had initially questioned Renuka Thakur’s capability, wondering if she was match fit. After missing the opening game against Sri Lanka, the bowler was drafted into the side for the game against Pakistan. Although she managed to take just 3 wickets in the WC, she was one of India’s most economical bowlers.

It’s not that I wasn’t expecting anyone to perform, but I had a question mark about Renuka Singh Thakur-when would she be match-fit? Once she was ready, the team knew exactly when to bring her into the Playing XI, and from there she just got better and better,” said Anjum.
