India Cricket Team's records at Old Trafford, Manchester

India Cricket Team have never won a Test match at Old Trafford in 89 years. They first played a Test at this venue back in 1936.

The Old Trafford may be known for the Manchester United football club, but it has a cricket ground too, of the same name. Old Trafford Cricket Ground is the home of England’s speedster James Anderson. Established in 1857, the stadium first hosted a match back in 1884, some 141 years ago, when England drew Australia. It is one of the oldest cricket venues in the world. India’s first match at the venue was back in 1936 when they forced a draw.

While India haven’t won a Test match at Old Trafford, they have drawn five and lost four. In ODIs, the record stands at 6-6 in 12 matches. India will take on England in their 4th Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy on July 23 at Old Trafford.

India’s first Test match was back in 1936 when the Maharajah of Vizianagram led a star-studded side. However, lack of experience meant Indian bowlers did not find a way to silence Wally Hammond, who scored 167 in the first innings. While Vijay Merchant and Mushtaq Ali scored a century each in the first innings, India ended up drawing the match. Overall, in nine Test matches, India have drawn five, losing the other four.
