Gujarat Titans spinner ruled out of Buchi Babu Tournament due to injury

The Buchi Babu Tournament, originally a memorial event, became a major competition under TNCA in the late 1960s. Once India’s premier first-class event before the Ranji Trophy, it remains a key competition.

Duleep Trophy will kickstart the new domestic season in Indian cricket. Star players, including Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer will represent their zones. However, before that, another domestic tournament will take place. All India Buchi Babu invitational tournament will be played from August 18 to September 9 in Chennai but one of the captains has been ruled out.

Big blow for Sai Kishore

It came as a huge surprise when Sai Sudharsan was left out of both Buchi Babu and Duleep Trophy squads. Incidentally, another ‘Sai’ won’t be available. Apparently, Sai Kishore has caught an injury and is thus ruled out of the invitational Buchi Babu Tournament.

Kishore, who had a great season with the Gujarat Titans (GT) earlier this year, was set to lead TNCA President’s XI. However, with him ruled out, Pradosh Ranjan Paul will take over the reins. Paul was previously announced as the captain of the TNCA XI camp. In another swap, Shahrukh Khan, who was previously in Kishore’s team, will now lead TNCA XI.

Here are the other changes: P Vidyuth is switching from TNCA XI to TNCA President’s XI, and P Vignesh is joining the latter team. Meanwhile, M Siddharth is moving from TNCA President’s XI to TNCA XI due to personal reasons. This comes after Vignesh Puthur’s impressive stint with Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025.
