Just about every cricket fan in India felt outraged when the team management ignored Kuldeep Yadav for all the five Tests in England. Despite pitches offering something for the spinners, it looked like the chinaman did not feature in coach Gautam Gambhir’s plans. Why one would ask?
Kuldeep Yadav’s Batting Keeping him at Bay?
Former India batter Aakash Chopra tried to decode this mystery. In a fresh video he spoke about Gambhir’s visible likeness to bowlers who can bat a bit — that includes the likes of Shardul Thakur, Washington Sundar and others. And hence Kuldeep Yadav misses out, more often than not.
“One thing stands out in Gautam’s coaching, he values bowlers who can bat. Sundar, Shardul, and Jadeja have seen more responsibility. Sometimes you feel that Kuldeep Yadav is getting left out because of that, but I am sure he would have a role when they play at home,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

In fact, that has been the case in the bowler’s entire career. After making a debut in 2017, he has just managed to play 13 Tests, where he has been decent, and picked up 56 wickets too. A thorough wicket-taker, Chopra feels that Kuldeep will get his due in the upcoming Test series in India.
Nonetheless, he is an irreplaceable part of the white-ball team, and now will be seen in action in the Asia Cup 2025, starting September 10. He has played 40 T20I till now, and has accounted for 49 wickets. He along with Varun Chakravarthy will form a potent partnership, which will only come in hand in the UAE conditions, that assists the slower bowlers.
