Former Indian cricketer Praveen Kumar has not applied for the role of a national selector from the Central Zone. On August 22, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) invited applications for two positions in the senior men’s selection committee. S Sharath (South Zone) and Shiv Sundar Das (Central Zone), who are a part of the current selection committee, are likely to be replaced.
Is Praveen Kumar interested in BCCI job?
It was previously reported that Praveen, who made his debut in 2007 and played 6 Tests, 10 T20Is, and 68 ODIs for India, was interested. He currently serves as the Uttar Pradesh senior men’s team selector and is ready for the next big jump. Not just Praveen, but also another former Indian pacer, RP Singh, was in the fray to become a national selector as well but hasn’t applied yet.
“Yes, it is confirmed that Praveen Kumar has applied for being the next national selector from the Central Zone. Now it will be fascinating to see who all put their hand up, with the deadline now just five days away. With the deadline coming close now, you never know if he (RP Singh) may give it a go,” sources had told IANS.
But. IANS has now reported that BCCI hasn’t received an application from Praveen.
The deadline for applicants is September 10 at 5 PM. The interview process of the selectors takes about two weeks to complete. Earlier, reports stated that former Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha is likely to become a national selector from the South Zone.
