Ajinkya Rahane became the 7th Indian to the 5k mark in IPL

Ajinkya Rahane continued his fine form in IPL 2025 with yet another show in the KKR vs CSK clash in Eden Gardens. Opting to bat first, the Kolkata Knight Riders skipper led his team’s charge from the front in a stunning assault. Rahane en route went past 5000 IPL runs, joining the likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma on the list.

Rahane climbs mount 5k

Ajinkya Rahane has been KKR’s best batsman this season and he was once again central to his side’s good start in the KKR vs CSK clash. After Rahmanullah Gurbaz was dismissed early, Rahane joined hands with Sunil Narine smashing 67 in the powerplay. The veteran took the attack Anshul Kamboj to put his side on top.

Rahane needed 42 runs to go past the 5000 run mark in IPL, and he did so, stitching KKR’s innings. He became the 7th Indian and the 9th overall to reach the milestone. The Mumbai batter is amongst the few players to have featured in every IPL season. He joins peers Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul into the list.

The KKR skipper was eventually dismissed for 48 off 33 balls, with four boundaries and two sixes. Rahane has seen his stocks rise in the IPL over the past couple of seasons, going ultra-attacking in the first few overs.
