It has been over two days since Team India snubbed Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi by refusing to collect the Asia Cup trophy from him and more details of the incident continue to come to the fore. After beating Pakistan by 5 wickets on Sunday in the Asia Cup final, Suryakumar Yadav and co. decided to not accept the trophy or medals from Naqvi. Not only did an ACC official run away with the trophy but Naqvi reportedly asked SKY to personally visit him to collect the Cup.

Naqvi hits new low after India’s Asia Cup win

As per news agency ANI, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi refused to congratulate India following their Asia Cup win in the ACC meeting. The report claimed that despite being urged by a BCCI official to do so, the PCB official opted to instead congratulate Nepal and Mongolia.

On Tuesday, a Times of India report claimed that the ACC chief Naqvi did not even acknowledge India’s win, until Shelar brought up the topic.

“There was no intention to resolve any matter from PCB and ACC Chair Naqvi. He had all the time to talk about everything under the sun, but didn’t acknowledge India winning. It was very strange to see how he conducted himself in the meeting,” said an official.

It is already established that the BCCI is going to lodge a protest during ICC meet this year. And the matter does not seem to come to a close.

“He kept beating around the bush. Shelar put his foot down and asked him to send the trophy and medals to the ACC office, and BCCI will themselves arrange the logistics of getting it back to India. Imagine, he didn’t even agree to that. Naqvi was informed about the BCCI’s intention to lodge a protest with ICC too, since it’s a tournament approved by the ICC,” added the official.
