IPL 2023 LIVE Broadcast: With two separate broadcasters in Indian Premier League, Disney-Star and Viacom18 are colliding head-on. Disney-Star is set to launch India’s first-ever 4K TV channel on Friday (March 31) for IPL. Thus, to respond to rival JioCinema’s IPL in 4K, Star Sports 4K will have GT vs CSK LIVE Broadcast in Ultra High Definition (4K). Follow Indian Premier League LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN.
Ahead of the official launch, Star Sports 4K has been added to Airtel Digital TV, Tata Play and Videocon D2H. There is still no update on its availability on JioTV+. Star Sports has already begun testing the channel with ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 match replays. However, it’s unclear whether Star Sports will have live broadcast in native 4K resolution or 4K upscaled.

Star Sports launched a trial during 2015 World Cup. Select matches were broadcast live in 4K. However, with not many 4K TV sets around 2015, there was no hype. But now that 4K TVs have become affordable for the general public and most mid-range and even some budget mobile handsets offering 4K resolution, demand for 4K is booming.
Meanwhile, Star Sports and JioCinema are also at the loggerheads to recruit the best commentators. Recently, Star Sports has added Steve Smith and Ravi Shastri to their commentary roster. Star Sports will broadcast IPL in 9 languages while JioCinema has a whopping 12-language live stream.
Star Sports is entering uncharted territory. For the first time, the broadcast giants will be sharing media rights after Viacom18 bagged the digital rights for the IPL. There has been a tussle to attract fans to their respective platforms and the war has already begun. JioCinema roped in MS Dhoni and Suryakumar Yadav as brand ambassadors, while Star Sports got in Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for their campaign.
