Covid strikes Ganguly’s home – Days after BCCI President Sourav Ganguly returned from the hospital after testing positive for Covid-19 his daughter Sana Ganguly has also tested positive for the virus. Currently, the 20-year-old is under home isolation. As per local media, Ganguly has tested negative.
Apart from the father and daughter, three other members of the family at Behala residence have also tested positive. Sourav Ganguly was admitted to hospital on December 27 after testing positive. It was later revealed that he tested positive for the Delta variant that swept across the country during second wave. Ganguly was taken to the hospital for precautionary measures for his underlying heart condition.

Apart from the father and daughter, as many as three other members of the family have also tested positive and are under home isolation. Sourav Ganguly’s uncle Debasish Ganguly, who is also the treasurer of the Cricket Association of Bengal, has tested positive besides his cousin Shuvradeep Ganguly and sister-in-law Juin Ganguly.
However, all of them have mild symptoms and are currently under home isolation. Sana, who studies in London, had come to Kolkata on winter vacation.

As for Sourav Ganguly, the former India captain was not been infected with the Omicron variant. His samples were sent for genome sequencing and returned positive for the Delta plus variant of the COVID-19.
“Ganguly’s samples tested positive for the Delta plus variant. We are treating him for that,” the hospital said in a statement.
The 49-year-old was rushed to the Woodlands Multispeciality hospital on Monday night as a precautionary measure after his RT-PCR test came positive for COVID-19.

Ganguly received “Monoclonal Antibody Cocktail therapy” after admission. He was admitted to hospital twice earlier this year and underwent emergency angioplasty after having complained of cardiac issues.
His elder brother Snehasish Ganguly and mother Nirupa Ganguly had also tested positive for COVID-19 early this year.
