“There wasn’t any money on that, you know? He [Ngannou] was in that PI, utilizing all the tools. There wouldn’t have been any fee for that. He’s arranging everything, including housing. I believed that he had made a mistake. He hasn’t engaged in combat for a while, after all. Get a fight under your belt before you start. I had no idea why he did that, which diminished his appeal. Nonetheless, I wish him luck.”
Early this year, the former UFC heavyweight champion surprised the world by giving up his championship and quitting the organization. Ngannou received the largest contract in the history of the UFC heavyweight division after his final match against Cyril Gane. He was offered to compete against Jon Jones, who became the UFC heavyweight champion after Ngannou’s exit. Francis Ngannou, however, decided against renewing his contract and instead searched for other choices.
