“Following the imposition of sanctions by the UK Government, the Premier League Board has disqualified Roman Abramovich as a Director of Chelsea Football Club.
The Board’s decision does not impact on the club’s ability to train and play its fixtures, as set out under the terms of a licence issued by the Government which expires on 31 May 2022.”
The latest news is that Chelsea’s sponsor ‘THREE’ have suspended their sponsorship of the club while Chelsea’s bank accounts have been frozen by Barclays temporarily. Therefore Abramovich had to put the club on sale.
Chelsea have been brutally hit as a club with the sanctions to their owner as they are not allowed to sell tickets, no merchandise sale, no transfers, no contract renewals, etc.
