Notably, the problem reportedly started because of many Liverpool fans arriving in Paris with ‘fake tickets,’ as per UEFA’s statement. With many supporters entering Stade de France without proper tickets, the police were forced to create a barricade at the gates.

This subsequently resulted in absolute mayhem, with thousands of fans from England being stuck outside the stadium. The start was delayed as many actual ticket-holders failed to get in, which included some major dignitaries.
Notably, the family of Liverpool’s Cameroonian defender Joel Matip came to watch the match but failed to do so. Matip’s brother had to flee the scene with his pregnant wife, in a bid to save his family from the reigning terror.

Besides that, Liverpool legend Alan Kennedy also came to the match, but he was stuck in the mayhem as well. Eventually, Kennedy also had to flee the scene as the French authorities had a torrid time getting things under control.
Pundit Gary Neville himself was stuck in the mess and he later lambasted the organizers, saying “I’m not sure it is possible to have a more poorly organised event if you tried. Absolutely shambolic and dangerous.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s agony did not end there as they ended up losing the match to Real Madrid 1-0, courtesy of a Vinicius Junior goal. The Brazilian attacker scored in the 59th minute to secure his team’s 14th UEFA Champions League title.
