How did Oscar De La Hoya and Eddie Hearn react to the $100M deal of Canelo Alvarez?

Michael Benson has reported that Alvarez has committed to a three-match deal with Al Haymon’s PBC, which is worth an impressive sum of over $100 million. As part of this agreement, he will be participating in fights over the next year and a half while receiving guidance from the esteemed American advisor. It seems that Alvarez’s next challenge will be defending his unbeaten super middleweight title against Jermall Charlo, with the anticipated date of September 16th.

Following reports of Alvarez signing a three-fight deal with Al Haymon’s PBC, Oscar De La Hoya took a jab at Eddie Hearn. Hearn, on the other hand, responded positively, saying that he believes it’s a smart decision for Alvarez.

He also mentioned that DAZN needs to focus on bringing in significant fights to compete with the huge amount of money being offered by PBC for Alvarez fights.

Hearn expressed that 2022 would have been Matchroom’s year, but now the focus is on winning in 2023, which seems to be PBC’s year. Check out their reactions above.

It’s clear that Alvarez is a highly sought-after athlete, and his decision to sign with PBC is a testament to that. This move will undoubtedly bring in a significant amount of money and attention to both Alvarez and PBC.

However, it remains to be seen how this move will affect DAZN, which previously had a successful partnership with Alvarez. With a significant amount of money now on the table for Alvarez’s fights, DAZN will need to step up and bring in big fights to keep up with PBC.

Additionally, Alvarez’s upcoming fight against Jermall Charlo is highly anticipated by fans and will undoubtedly be a major event in the boxing world. It will be interesting to see how Alvarez performs under his new contract with PBC.
