Busta won the set 1 by 7-5. The 2nd set was a neck to neck affair as Evans kept matching Busta stoke by stoke. Evans won the 2nd in tough tiebreak. 3rd right from the start was a cakewalk for Spanish player as he trumped 6-2 to make it to the FINALS.

Hrukacz on the other hand lost the SET 1 to Ruud but easily won the next two by 6-3, 6-2.

The 32-year-old Evans overcame a poor opening set in Montreal on Friday to beat American Tommy Paul in the quarter-final. The British No 1 surged up 16 places in the ATP Rankings on the back of that result of Paul and he could add another 250 points to his live tally of 1,520, which would see him move into the top 20 for the first time.

“Carreno is a great player, experienced pro,” Evans said ahead of the match. “[He is] underestimated a lot. He’s a very tough opponent.”

Spaniard Carreno Busta reached his fourth Masters semis after beating British youngster Jack Draper 7-6 (7-4), 6-1.

“It’s very important for my confidence, for myself,” said Carreno Busta said. “I’m playing very solid. I know tomorrow I have the opportunity to be in the final. I need to be 100 per cent again. I need to recover as much as I can.

“Evans is having an incredible week also, so we’ll see. But I have another opportunity to be in a final.”

Carreno Busta is already assured of moving back into the top 20 as he is up to No 17 in the live rankings with 16th place assured if he reaches the final.
