Morocco took the lead owing to a terrible blunder by Canada goalie Milan Borjan on a clearance. He bursted out of the box to get a pass, which he sends straight to Ziyech with the goal empty. About the 24th minute Morocco’s lead was doubled. Youssef En-Nesyri took advantage of a wonderful long ball from right-back Achraf Hakimi, outpacing Steven Vitoria and Kamal Miller. Nesyri snuck it past the custodian.

Just about 5 minutes before halftime, Canada pull a goal back. Canada launched an attack down the left flank through Sam Adekugbe, and his crisp cross along the ground deflects off Moroccan defender Nayef Aguerd and finds its way into the net. Morocco headed into first half with a narrow one-goal lead. Adekugbe’s deflected cross gave Canada hope, but Morocco looked dangerous every time they entered the final third.
Canada’s dominant second-half performance goes unrecognised as the final whistle blows. Morocco triumphs 2-1. The Canadian men are still without a point in this World Cup, having lost all three games against Belgium, Croatia, and now Morocco.
