An SeYoung beat Sindhu: Playing in her 3rd finals of BWF Season Ender event, Sindhu was completely outclassed and outpaced by the Korean teenager.

An SeYoung won the 1st game 21-16 in just 18 minutes as the double Olympic medallist looked completely out of sorts and rattled by absolutely magnificient retreaving skills of the Korean.

The second game was no better and this time the An won by far bigger margin of 21-12 to win the biggest title of her carrer. She will now start favorite in the World Badminton Championship beginning in Spain next week.

Sindhu now has lost 3 times to 19 year old Korean in 3 meetings.

This was 3rd BWF World Tour Finals for Sindhu. She has earlier won the title in 2018 and was runners-up in 2017.

An SeYoung beat Sindhu: Sindhu will also now travel to Spain to defend her World Badminton Championship title which she won in 2019. Since that memorable win, Sindhu is yet to win a single tournament on BWF Circuit.

An SeYoung beat Sindhu: Sindhu vs An SeYoung LIVE: Sindhu, the reigning world champion and two-time Olympic medallist, beat Yamaguchi 21-15, 15-21, 21-19 in a thrilling semifinals.

On the other hand the young Korean defeated Pornpawee Chochuwong of Thailand 25-23, 21-17 in the other semifinal to set up summit clash with Sindhu.

  • It will be Sindhu’s third final appearance in the season-ending tournament. She had won the title in 2018 to become the only Indian to achieve the feat. In 2017 she was runners-up.
  • Sindhu has been in fine form after picking up a bronze in the Tokyo Olympics. She had reached the semifinals in her last three events — French Open, Indonesia Masters and Indonesia Open — before coming into the BWF World Tour Finals.
  • She finished runner-up in the Swiss Open in March.

Why An SeYoung is a big challenge for Sindhu? It won’t be easy for Sindhu in the final against Seyoung who had come into the season-ending tournament with back-to-back titles in the Indonesia Masters and Indonesia Open.

The world number six Seyoung had also beaten Sindhu in the quarterfinals of the Denmark Open in October.

Sindhu has never defeated the Korean in the two meetings between the two.

  • Sindhu defeated Yamaguchi 21-15, 15-21, 21-19 in 1 hour and 10 minutes.
  • Pornpawee Chochuwong of Thailand defeated the reigning world champion by 21-12, 19-21, 21-14 in a match that lasted for one hour and 11 minutes.
  • Sindhu beat German badminton player Yvonne Li in straight sets 21-10, 21-13 to seal the game in just 31 minutes.
  • She defeated Denmark’s Line Christophersen 21-14, 21-16 in a match that lasted for 38 minutes.

  • It will be Sindhu’s third final appearance in the season-ending tournament. She had won the title in 2018 to become the only Indian to achieve the feat.
