BWF World Championships LIVE – Kidambi Srikanth advances, Sai Praneeth Ousted: Indian shuttler, and former World No.1 Kidambi Srikanth got off to an good start at the World Championships in Spain. The 12th seeded Srikanth eased past Abian by 21-12, 21-16 in just 36 minutes in the men’s singles event. He will now meet China’s Li Shi Feng in Round 2.
On the other hand Sai Praneeth once again disappointed. Praneeth lost to Mark Caljouw. The latter performed exceedingly well in the first set but the Dutch came back sharply to clinch the game 21-17, 7-21, 18-21. It is worth noting that Praneeth also had lost to Caljouw at the Tokyo Olympics.
Lakshya Sen got a walkover after Max Weisskirchen withdrew.

Kidambi Srikanth begins his BWF World Championships with a bang. A dominating performance from the former World No. 1 saw him win 21-12, 21-16 against the Spanish shuttler, Pablo Abian. Srikanth always had a grip on the match and closed it out pretty well despite a late fightback from Abian in the second game.
Mark Caljouw comes from behind to beat Sai Praneeth
Netherland’s Mark Caljouw came from behind to cut short India’s Sai Praneeth’s progression in the ongoing BWF World Championship. The latter performed exceedingly well in the first set but the Dutch came back sharply to clinch the game 21-17, 7-21, 18-21.

HS Prannoy has received a tough draw as he takes on eighth seed Angus Ng Ka Long in the first round. Prannoy is unseeded and has had a difficult year, and will face an uphill task against the Chinese ace. The two players have met five times previously, with Prannoy’s only win coming way back in 2016 at the China Open.
