Plant will face Benavidez in what we can only describe as a grudge match. The two have been at loggerheads with each other for almost five years now. And the former IBF champion will hope to have a better outing than his fight against Canelo Alvarez.

Caleb Plant vs Canelo Alvarez: Where did it go wrong?
Plant took on Alvarez in 2021, at the same venue where he will face David Benavidez this weekend. And he went into the bout as the huge underdog, similar to this bout against Benavidez. However, things started well for Plant. He won the first round on all three judges’ scorecards.
However, after the first round, Alvarez showed his class. Although Plant exceeded everyone’s expectations, Alvarez dominated the fight. The Mexican took control of the ring, walked Plant down, and threw vicious combinations. Throughout the fight, Alvarez hurt Plant with the left hook.
Ultimately, it was the left hook that led to Plant’s downfall. After 10 rounds of entertaining boxing, Alvarez caught Plant with a vicious left hook in the 11th. This rocked Plant, and the Mexican followed up with two more powerful punches which sent Plant crashing to the ground for the first time in his career.
Although the American got back on his feet, Alvarez smelled blood and did not let Plant recover. He pushed forward and landed powerful combinations until he knocked out Caleb Plant. It was yet another dominant performance from one of the sport’s most dominant champions.
