Becker faces deportation
As things stand, Boris Becker faces automatic deportation from the United Kingdom once he has served his prison sentence for fraud, according to reports. The Wimbledon icon is serving two-and-a-half years in jail after being found guilty of concealing £2.5million worth of assets after declaring bankruptcy.
Becker spends most his time locked up playing table tennis, could be kicked out of the country as soon as his jail time is over, meaning he would no longer appear as a pundit at Wimbledon.
A Home Office spokesperson said, “Any foreign national convicted of a crime and given a prison sentence is considered for deportation at the earliest opportunity.”
Another scenario could see Becker repatriated to Germany before his sentence finishes, serving out the rest of his time over there under the Government’s Early Removal Scheme.
What is the case?
Becker was jailed for two years and six months in April by a London court for hiding hundreds of thousands of pounds of assets after he was declared bankrupt. The charges were that he has hidden £2.5million of assets and loans to avoid paying debts after being made bankrupt.
He was convicted of four charges under Britain’s Insolvency Act, including failing to disclose, concealing and removing significant assets following bankruptcy trial.

Becker to move to Germany?
Becker is hopeful of being repatriated to his native Germany by November. Becker is facing automatic deportation at the end of his sentence. He will then be released into the community before Christmas under the softer German penal system.
He must serve half his term because he is not entitled to an electronic tag as a foreign prisoner.
According to reports, the six-times Grand Slam champ was allowed to watch the Wimbledon tournament behind bars. The report further claims that he was thrilled by Novak Djokovic win at Wimbledon this year. He had coached the Serb between 2014 and 2016.
