Karim Benzema returned from injury to take part in a closed-door match against Leganes. This raises quite a few questions if the forward will be available to feather for the defending champions against Lionel Messi’s Argentina on Sunday at the Lusail Stadium.
Karim Benzema has been plagued with injuries throughout the season. The current Ballon d’Or winner was selected in the 26-man squad by Didier Deschamps before pulling away days before the start of the mega tournament. The forward spent the last couple of weeks recovering from his injury.

He made his appearance for Los Blancos against Leganes in a closed-door preparatory match. Though he featured for just 30 minutes on the pitch, it is a good sign which marks the return of the prolific striker to his full fitness. The special match consisted of 60 minutes where Benzema featured for just the first half before being replaced.

As for the France National team, the defending champions will be facing Argentina in the finals on Sunday. France head coach Didier Deschamps refused to answer about the potential availability of Benzema for the finals in the press conference.
“I don’t really want to answer that question,” Deschamps said following a long pause. “Next question. I do apologize.”
