In a report recently published by SportsTak, the BCCI have issued a strict diet plan which is to be followed by all players mandatorily. The plan has directives to not consume pork and beef in any form in a bid to keep them healthy and fit. The report also stated that the players have been asked to consume meat only in halal form.
The decision comes after India’s dismal performance at the T20 World Cup, with India humiliatingly crashing out of the group stage with losses to Pakistan and New Zealand. The aim to ensure that players don’t put on additional weight or develop a healthy waistline which affects their performance during important series or events. The decision however has caused a stir among fans, who slammed the BCCI for favouring the halal custom.
Muslims consume only halal meat and abstain from eating any other type of meat and are the only ones allowed to participate in the entire process at every stage. Fans have hit out at the decision citing their displeasure at BCCI’s halal directive and the same can be witnessed on social media, with many accusing the board of promoting halal meat.

India meanwhile amidst this latest controversy are in preparation to begin their Test series against New Zealand later this week. The two teams will face off in Kanpur in the first Test on Thursday, with the second Test scheduled to begin in Mumbai in December.
