With his four-wicket haul, Shakib Al Hasan also became the first Bangladesh bowler to pick 300 wickets in ODIs. Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first. However just like the previous ODI, Sam Curran removed both the opener Tamim Iqbal and Litton Das in quick succession as the hosts were in trouble early on in the innings.
Mushfiqur Rahim joined hands with Najmul Hossain Shanto and the duo resurrected the innings. They shared a 97-run stand as both the batters smashed half-centuries. Later Shakib Al Hasan fired in the death overs to help Bangladesh post a respectable total. England pacer Archer finished with three wickets while Adil Rashid and Sam Curran picked up two.

Chasing 247, England got off to a good start. Openers Jason Roy and Phil Salt shared a solid 54-run stand. However, Bangladesh bowlers fought back with three quick wickets and came back in the contest. England lost the wickets of Salt, Dawid Malan and Roy in a space of eight balls.
Sam Curran was promoted up the order and he, along with James Vince stitched a 49-run stand. Shakib removed Vince and from then on wickets fell in a flurry. Chris Woakes waged a lone battle in the end but couldn’t drag England over the line as they were bowled out for 196 runs.
