Senior National Badminton Championships: Dhruv-Tanisha breeze into next round

Dhruv and Tanisha will face the pair of Abdul Rahman Syed and Mamaikya Lanka in round two

The Mixed Doubles pair of Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto on Wednesday maintained their magnificent form at the Yonex-Sunrise 85th Senior National Badminton Championships at R. G. Baruah Sports Complex in Guwahati. The duo dominated their opponents Vanlalringngheta Joseph and Laldingpull Ralte to win 21-5, 21-7 on day one of the tournament.

The prestigious national championships being held from December 20-24 are organised by the Badminton Association of India (BAI) in Assam after four years. Dhruv and Tanisha had won the Yonex Sunrise Odisha Masters 2023 just a few days ago. Their victory over Joseph and Ralte in their round of 64 match in 18 minutes speaks volumes about their level of confidence and dominance. Dhruv and Tanisha will face the pair of Abdul Rahman Syed and Mamaikya Lanka in round two.

Malvika Bansod started off her National Badminton Championships campaign with an easy victory over Mayuri Barman. The singles player defeated Barman 21-6, 21-16 to move into the next round. Notably, Bansod was last year’s runner-up at the Syed Modi International, where she went down to PV Sindhu in the final.
