However, her time with the Malaysian did not turn out to be fruitful. In the past year, Sindhu was unable to win a BWF World Tour title and reached just one final – the Madrid Masters.

Sindhu’s string of bad results coincided with a drop in her ranking from world No. 1 to No. 11. This former world champion will be looking to make up for lost time this year ahead of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris from July to August.

“I’d been training with Hafiz and then I wanted some change – I thought it was not suiting my game – and that’s when I asked Agus,” PV Sindhu told news agency Reuters.

“He’s really good for me because every coach has a different mindset. It’s super tough; you’re fatigued, you’re tired but they (help you) get back that strength and they make sure your muscles are strong enough to be back on court the next day,” Sindhu added.
