Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu put India in the lead against Thailand with a win in the women’s singles of Badminton Asia Team Championship Final. She defeated 17-ranked in the world, Supanida Kathetong in straight sets of 21-12 and 21-12 to put India in the lead in the tie as they aim for their first title.

Indian Women shuttlers are on their way to script history as they aim for a gold medal in the Badminton Asia Team Championships. 17-year-old Anmol Kharab guided India’s way in to the final as PV Sindhu faltered in the semifinal against Japan.
Sindhu lost the opening game to Aya Ohori is straight sets with scores of 21-13, 22-20. In the opening women’s doubles match, Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand displayed an impressive performance to defeat the sixth-ranked pair of Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida. The Indian duo clinched a hard-fought victory, winning 21-17, 16-21, 22-20 after a 73-minute battle.

With the overall score tied at 1-1, young talent Ashmita Chaliha faced former world champion Nozomi Okuhara in the third match. Chaliha delivered a commanding performance, defeating Okuhara in straight games with scores of 21-17, 21-14, giving India a 2-1 lead.
Due to Tanisha Crasto’s injury concern, Sindhu partnered with Ashwini Ponnappa for the next match against the 11th-ranked pair of Rena Miyaura and Ayako Sakuramoto. Unfortunately, the Indian duo fell short, losing 14-21, 11-21 in 43 minutes.
With the series level at 2-2, Anmol was tasked with facing world No. 29 Natsuki Nidaira. Once again, the Indian player rose to the occasion, securing a 21-14, 21-18 victory in 52 minutes, ensuring India’s triumph in the tie.
