Ashmita Chaliha stuns former world no.1 Nozomi Okuhara in Badminton Asia Team Championships

India women shuttlers assured themselves of a historic first-ever Badminton Asia Team Championships medal by cruising to a 3-0 win over Hong Kong

India’s Ashmita Chaliha ousted Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara in the semifinals of the Badminton Asia Team Championships Women’s Singles. Ashmita beat the former World Number 1 in straight sets winning 21-17 and 21-14 to give India the 2-1 lead in the tie as they eye their way into the final of the continental showpiece.
