The Badminton World Tour finals is a tournament for the Top 8 players who have collected the most points in the BWF Tour this year, across all the categories. All the eight players will be divided into two groups of 4 players each and they will initially be facing each other in their group. At the end of the group stage, the top 2 players from each of the groups would advance to the semifinals.
HS Prannoy finished third in the BWF World Tour rankings and has qualified to the tournament for the first time in his career. In his maiden appearance in the tournament, Prannoy is placed alongside World No.1 Viktor Axelsen, who leads Group A. Apart from Axelsen and Prannoy, the group also has Kodai Naraoka of Japan and Lu Guangzhu of China.
