Australian GP: Charles Leclerc wins the Australian GP: Charles Leclerc wins the Australian Grand Prix followed by Sergio Perez and George Russell in second and third position. With this victory, Leclerc becomes the first driver after Hamilton to win the race from pole position. Hamilton achieved this feat in the 2015 Australian Grand Prix. Charles Leclerc comprehensively won the Australian Grand Prix and extended his lead at the front in the points table. He was followed by Red Bull’s Sergio Perez in second place. George Russell finished third in his Mercedes W13 challenger and was on the podium for the first time in the Mercedes outfit. Lewis Hamilton finished fourth and finally, Mercedes had a good outing in the office today.

Both the McLarens finished in the points today as Lando Norris settled for the fifth position and Ricciardo in his home race managed the sixth spot. Esteban Ocon in his Alpine outfit settled for the seventh position. Valtteri Bottas also finished in the points as he managed an eighth-place finish. AlphaTauri’s Pierre Gasly settled for ninth place and Alex Albon gained the most number of positions and finished in the tenth spot.

Alex Albon had started the race in the twentieth position and finished in the tenth place. The rookie driver for Alfa Romeo, Guanyu Zhou finished in the eleventh spot. Lance Stroll, who started the race in the nineteenth spot could only manage a twelfth place finish.

It was then followed up by both the Haas drivers. Mick Schumacher settled for thirteenth place and Kevin Magnussen finished in the fourteenth spot. Yuki Tsunoda couldn’t do much better as he managed fifteenth place.

Nicholas Latifi settled for sixteenth place finish followed by Fernando Alonso in seventeenth position. Alonso also finished last as three drivers couldn’t finish the race. Those three drivers were Sebastian Vettel, Max Verstappen, and Carlos Sainz.

Carlos Sainz was the first driver who bowed out of the race. He couldn’t handle his F1-75 car and went onto the gravel. It was the end for Sainz in the early part of the race itself.

Vettel who came back after two races to start the Australian GP had a horrific outing. He just couldn’t keep up with his car and saw DNF next to his name. He spun himself on the track and was out of the race.

Max Verstappen was the third driver who saw DNF next to his name. He had a suspected power unit failure which saw him out of the race. This is his second DNF in just three races for the 2022 season.
