In the final session at the MCG on Tuesday, Cameron Green joined David Warner in retiring hurt, adding to Australia’s injury troubles late on a second day they otherwise dominated vs SA.
Following the end of Warner’s outstanding innings, Green was also forced to leave the field due to a broken right index finger he sustained from an Anrich Nortje bouncer.
The allrounder needed to be led off the field by medical personnel because blood was oozing from his finger.
The all-rounder will be unable to participate in the BBL or the third Test in Sydney due to injury. However, it is expected that he will be ready for the four-test tour of India that begins in February.
Earlier on Monday, Green scalped a five-for during the 1st innings of the Boxing Day Test, as he helped Australia fold South Africa for just 189.
