- Devon Conway has broken his right hand.
- He will not be able to take part in the T20 World Cup final.
- The final will be played between New Zealand and Australia on November 14 in Dubai.
- The 30-year-old sustained the injury when he struck his bat immediately after being dismissed in last night’s semi-final win over England in Abu Dhabi – with an X-ray today confirming a break to his right-hand fifth Metacarpal.
- New Zealand coach Gary Stead confirmed the news and said that Conway is gutted on missing out on a crucial game.
- Apart from the T20 World Cup final, Devon Conway will also miss the Balckcaps’ tour of India starting from 17 November.

Conway’s injury will be a big setback for the Blackcaps considering the counterattacking knock he played in the semifinal against England.
Conway scored 46 off 38 and formed a partnership with Daryl Michell at a crucial juncture in the game. He took the attack to the England bowlers and helped Mitchell set his eyes as the latter was struggling to break free.

Conway’s absence will not only affect the batting strength of New Zealand, but a new wicketkeeper in the final match of the tournament will be too big a risk. It’s highly likely that Tim Seifert will be brought back to replace Conway behind the wicket.
Gary Stead hinted about the change and said he and Williamson are looking to fit in Seifert along with Glenn Phillips in the eleven.
“Whether we bring Glenn Phillips up one and put Seifert in behind him is something that Kane and I have to work through over the next day or so,” said Stead.
