Chasing a mammoth target of 201, Australia struggled throughout. It was Tim Southee rattled them in the powerplay as the hosts went down to 37/3 in the powerplay. While Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell tried rebuilding, Mitchell Santner and Trent Boult joined the bandwagon. Australians struggled against Kiwi spinners. Santner returned with 3/31 while Ish Sodhi picked up 1 wicket for 29. In the end, Australia could not come out of the collapse and were bowled out for 111.
