Nathan Lyon failed to get any wicket in the 1st session that was dominated by a 100+ run partnership between Joe Root and Dawid Malan. However, the Australian spinner who recently entered the 400-wickets club in Test cricket chipped in with the ball and returned with 3-58 in his 11 overs spell.
Moreover, Australian bowling legend Shane Warne disagreed with Pietersen’s Tweets on Lyon while commentating for Fox Cricket.
“I thought all the Australian bowlers were outstanding, but I thought Nathan Lyon even though he only took the one wicket I thought he created a lot of pressure at one end. He allowed the quicks to rotate at the other end and that is what England lacked. That was a standout. No spinner. Nathan Lyon has done a great job.”
Meanwhile, Nathan Lyon is second on the list of leading wicket-taker in Tests at Adelaide. He is two wickets away from Shane Warne who is sitting at the summit position in the list.
