Aus Open Result: World No.2 Daniil Medvedev to face Rafa Nadal in FINAL- World No.2 & US Open champion Daniil Medvedev has set up the ultimate & final clash with Rafael Nadal for Sunday. He beat Stefanos Tsitsipas in a gripping contest that lasted around 3 hours. 3rd seed Stefanos Tsitsipas started the game on a high note but lost the tie-breaker from 4-1 lead. He, however, bounced back to level up by taking the second set. As the game progressed, he failed to match the Russian in the battle for the finals.

Medvedev won the 3rd & fourth set to make it consecutive finals at the Australian Open. He won the match 7-6(5) 4-6 6-4 6-1 in 2 hours 30 minutes at Rod Laver Arena. This time he won’t have to face Novak Djokovic. A win in the finals will make Medvedev world No.1 with Novak Djokovic dethroned from the top of the rankings. Medvedev can win back-to-back titles after US Open. He will face a stern test against Rafa Nadal in the Finals.

Should Medvedev defeat the Spanish great, he will become the first man in the Open era to win his first two Grand Slam titles in succession after his triumph in New York last September.

The Russian denied Novak Djokovic the calendar Grand Slam in the U.S. Open final and will now seek to stop Nadal from setting an all-time men’s record of 21 Grand Slam titles.

Top seed Daniil Medvedev was staring at a shock exit on Wednesday but the Russian superstar pulled off a stunning comeback to seal his place in the semifinals. The World No. 2 was two sets down and saved a match point in the fourth set to progress and will hope to seal the championship after his heartbreak in the final last year.

During that run, Medvedev did tussle with Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semi-finals, winning to set up his final against Novak Djokovic. The Russian ace enjoys a sizeable advantage over his Greek counterpart and will aim to continue his good form and make it back to back Grand Slam titles after his US Open success.
