Asia Cup India Squad: The selection committee meeting according to a source will take place in Mumbai. The selectors will watch the ongoing India vs WestIndies T20 series closely before the squad is finalized.

India currently leads the series 2-1. The series ends on August 7th and the selectors will meet very next morning to finalize the squad for Asia Cup T20 in UAE.

Meanwhile as reported earlier by InsideSport, the submission deadline for ICC T20 World Cup in Australia is 15th September. This means the Asia Cup and T20World Cup hopefuls have just 4 more games to impress the selectors.

How selectors will gauge Kohli’s form & KL Rahul’s fitness?

KL Rahul’s FITNESS: BCCI and the selectors are hopeful that Rahul will prove his fitness before the squad is selected for the Asia Cup. Though the date is yet to be confirmed, but KL Rahul will be subjected to FITNESS TEST coming week at the National Cricket Academy.

Rahul himself has tweeted on Saturday evening that he is RECOVERING from Covid-19 and is looking forward to be part of the Indian team once again.

Virat Kohli’s FORM: The case of Kohli is more peculiar. The former Indian captain is on break. It was expected that Kohli will play the ODI Series vs Zimbabwe to regain his lost form. InsideSport had reported that some of the members of selection committee were keen to give Kohli some time in the middle. These selectors wanted to pick him for the Zimbabwe tour.

But Kohli decided to made himself unavailable and will continue his vacation and break from the game. It is clear that the selectors will now have to pick Kohli on his past records with doubts on his form will continue to haunt them till he score.
