India held their full-fledged training session on Thursday under the watchful eyes of VVS Laxman. The Men in Blue did have a light training session on Wednesday, but got into their groove at the ICC Academy sweating it out in the nets. Much of the focus was on the top 3 with Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli all spending some extended time in the nets.
Pacers Avesh Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh were also seen doing some special exercises before hitting the nets. The trio are likely to be India’s first choice attack when they face Pakistan on August 28.
Spinners Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Yuzvendra Chahal also had a bowl as the Indian batters tried to take them on from the get-go. Despite conditions slightly favouring the tweakers, batters are expected to come hard at them and practice was done in the same regard.
“Yes, team is scheduled for another practice session today. The first match against Pakistan is big game and the new coach and captain will have discussion around conditions and team strategy for the game”, informed a team source.

Laxman reportedly also held a team meeting after the net session in Dubai. While much of what transpired in unknown, but a lot of the talk surrounded strategy with batting coach Vikram Rathour seen walking out with a drawing board.
What is in store for team meeting ? With Laxman taking charge of the team officially, various points are set to be discussed, including the team composition and the Playing XI.
Foremost, their main focus will also lie on the India vs Pakistan game, which is scheduled for August 28. The importance of getting off the mark with a win will be stressed. He is also going to address the different roles players will be entrusted with during the Asia Cup.
One has to remember, India are one of the strong favourites and India will need all their players to be on the toes to shine in the gulf country.
