Anderson achieved the special feat during the ongoing second Test in Adelaide. Anderson remained unbeaten on 5 off 13 balls in England’s first innings. After Anderson, the second on the list is West Indies legend Courtney Wash who has remained unbeaten 61 times out of 185 innings in the longer format.

Sri Lankan spin legend and 800 Test wicket-taker Muttiah Muralitharan features at number 03 on the special list remaining unbeaten 56 times in 164 innings.

Most not-outs in Test cricket
  • James Anderson – 100
  • Courtney Wash – 61
  • Muttiah Muralitharan – 56
  • Bob Wills – 55

England were bowled out for just 236 runs in the first innings. They need 468 runs to win the second Ashes Test after Australia declared at 230/9 on Day Four of the ongoing match on Sunday. Anderson could manage only a lone wicket in his spell of 10 overs.

All eyes will be on Joe Root & Dawid Malan who are the only players who have done well in the ongoing Test series. The duo had shared 150+ and 100+ partnerships in the first and second Test respectively. England are winless in their last 11 matches in Australia which includes a draw. They need to bat for at least 4 sessions to survive against Australia if they want to avoid 0-2 in the Test series.

Joe Root’s England will next play Australia in the Boxing Day Test on December 26 at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
