Ashes 2021 LIVE: England’s on-field blunders on Day 2 – Joe Root & Co had a disastrous day on Thursday. They made a number of on-field errors to give multiple lifelines to England and David Warner in particular. It all began with a no-ball from Ben Stokes which also sparked the third umpire controversy. Rory Burns joined the act with a drop at slip that went straight down his throat. Adding to the drama, Haseeb Hameed missed an easy run out at short leg as Warner continued to ride his luck.  Follow Ashes 2021 live updates on InsideSport.IN

It didn’t stop there as Steve Smith also gained from a missed run-out opportunity. Luckily, he didn’t last long.

Ashes 2021 LIVE: David Warner punishes England after Ben Stokes’ big No-ball error

Stokes’ No ball

Stokes, who was late to join the England squad in Australia after taking a break to focus on his mental health, was also denied his first Ashes wicket when he overstepped the mark in the Adelaide Test in 2013. Australia wicketkeeper Brad Haddin was caught behind for 51 but went on to make 118 after his reprieve in a previous Ashes series. Australia won the series 5-0.

Rory Burns drops Warner

“Rory Burns couldn’t finish the job. That’s a big miss for England,” Mike Hussey said in commentary for Fox Cricket.

“It’s a dolly too. That’s as easy and as comfortable as you want them. It didn’t fly, it was waist height,” Allan Border added.

Haseeb Hameed miss run out

Haseeb Hameed missed a run out after the Australian slipped on the pitch. “I’m buying a lotto ticket if I am David Warner,” Border while reacting to the development.

Mark Waugh said: “They’ve had no luck but they’ve brought a lot of it upon themselves.”

Meanwhile, England pro seamers James Anderson and Stuart Broad has been rested. The development left Englishmen 1156 wickets short of experience.

Jack Leach blasted

England spinner Jack Leach was blasted by Australia on Thursday. He was hammered around the park for 95 runs in 11 overs. The economy rate of 8.63 made it look like a T20 contest with hands on his head.

Meanwhile, the bowlers looked tired despite England bowling 84 overs in the day. England premium bowlers Chris Woakes and Mark Wood looked off colour. Ben Stokes ended wicketless after no-ball.
