Mikel Arteta has been looking for a new forward this month and appeared to be on track to sign Mykhailo Mudryk. Chelsea’s late intervention, though, dashed their hopes of landing the Ukrainian. The Gunners, on the other hand, have moved rapidly to find other targets. They are now hopeful of completing a deal for Trossard in the coming days. Trossard, mostly a left winger, joined Brighton from Genk in 2019 for around €15 million. In 116 Premier League appearances for Brighton, he has 25 goals.

Last Friday, the Belgium international informed his agent, Josy Comhair, that he had decided to leave Brighton. This was following a fight with Roberto De Zerbi. Brighton’s manager suspended Trossard last week after criticising the player’s attitude in training. It seemed to be causing Comhair to reject De Zerbi’s version of events, accuse him of humiliating his client, and suggesting a transfer as the most expedient answer.

The Brighton manager said that the Belgian recently walked out of training after learning that he had been left out of their FA Cup match against Middlesbrough. Trossard has not played for the Seagulls in 2023. Additionally he missed his team’s 3-0 win over Liverpool after leaving training early without De Zerbi’s consent.

The Belgian was rumored to be a top transfer target for Arsenal’s rivals, Tottenham. However it appears that the Gunners will win the fight for the offensive midfielder. Tottenham was also said to have made a proposal for Trossard, which was largely rejected.
