Pokemon Generation 9 rumours: The community is expecting a new title this year
It has become a tradition that the Pokemon community will get a new gaming title featuring a new generation every three years. Game Freak, the primary developer of Pokemon series role-playing games has also stuck to this timeline with the release of Pokemon Sword & Shield in 2019. Fans were expecting a new announcement regarding Pokemon Gen 9 but things have looked a little confusing lately.

As Game Freak announced their Pokemon Legends Arceus title for release in January, which is still based on the current Gen 8 Pokemons, fans have started to become skeptical. While this side project looks like a good game, it may make 2022 a bit crowded for the release of a new gaming title for the Generation 9 Pokemons.
As we are very near to the annual Pokemon Day on 27th February, many people from the community are speculating that Pokemon Gen 9 may be announced during that event. This year’s Pokemon Day event is also a bit special as it will mark the 25th anniversary of the franchise since its foundation.

Every generation of Pokemon has been based on different regions which are inspired by the locations on our planet. In the Black & White generations of the 2010s, the franchise has alternated each generation’s region between America and Europe. Unova was themed around New York State, Kalos resembled France, and Alola was designed around the island of Hawaii. This brings up to the current Gen 8 with Galar inspired by the United Kingdom. Some rumors suggest that Gen 9 may very well be moved to Asia and be based upon either China or India. Still, there are no confirmed details about this.

Pokemon Gen 9 release date
If Gen 9 is announced in 2022 during Pokemon Day or later, then the game will likely release in the fall or winter season. Many people in the community have speculated that Gen 9 is already in development but just has not been announced. Based on the previous generation titles, The Pokemon Company likes to launch its new games on Fridays. Based on that, November 11 or the 18 might be the release window that they may be going for to release the game.
Everything is still in speculation as Game Freak has been breaking all the rules lately like announcing Pokemon Legends Arceus. Thus, anything is possible until the official announcement is made.
