The world had to undergo significant changes in the last couple of years due to the COVID pandemic. Like every other segment, the gaming industry was also struck with uncertainty. The competitive sector of esports was completely shut off since travel restrictions were put up by the countries. In recent years, the restrictions have been lifted, and normalcy has returned. Though it has been implemented to ensure the safety of participating gamers, several professional gamers have criticized it. For more news related to Apex Legends, follow InsideSport.IN

Apex Legends has become quite popular among gamers within a short time. Developed by Respawn Entertainment, the esports segment for the game is extremely competitive. Several popular esports factions have their own Apex Legends team who vie for the top spots. The Apex Legends Global Series Championship is also expected to offer a similar competitive experience. However, at the moment, it is facing some serious opposition due to the COVID protocols.

Apex Legends: Infected gamers not to be allowed to play the Global Series Championship

Apex Legends has released the COVID protocols that need to be followed at the Global Series Championships. According to the reports, gamers who test positive for COVID at the event won’t be allowed to participate. However, the organization respects their dedication and efforts toward the esports sector. Therefore, they will be provided lodging and travel support by EA.

Apex Legends Global Series Championship is basically a LAN event. According to the organizers, it is not feasible to hold remote gameplay to uphold the fair play of the event. These policies were already communicated to the teams and they are allowed to register an additional player for the roster as a substitute.

The COVID protocols from Apex Legends did not please several professionals. These gamers did not hold back and openly criticized the organization.

TSM Albralelie was the most vocal and pointed out how other esports segments had the option to include COVID-infected gamers in a different setup.

NICKMERCS from Faze Clan kept it simple. But the reply was enough to state that the decision certainly was not pleasant for him.

NRG Sweet and Alliance Hakis also supported the professionals and criticized the lack of facility from Apex Legends’ side. Both gamers pointed out the ways in which the event could be organized and hoped that the criticisms results in some positive outcome in future events.

With so much negative feedback pouring in, Apex Legends should really consider the ways to let COVID-positive gamers participate. Setting up of confined booth, or allowing them to participate from remote locations such as a nearby hotel could be a few ways to go around the obstacle. It is to be seen how the franchise makes up for the recent debacle in the near future.
