Keys’ renaissance after a dismal 2021 season has lit up Melbourne Park this year, and at a baking hot Rod Laver Arena, fourth seed Krejcikova became another casualty of the American’s new-found confidence and traditional firepower.
Unbowed, Keys unleashed a blistering forehand return winner down the line to break back and sealed the match with a thumping first serve that Krejcikova could only push long.
Keys will play the winner of Australian world number one Ash Barty and American Jessica Pegula for a place in the final.

- 26-year-old Keys entered the Australian Open quarter-final for the third time in her career.
- After a disappointing last season, where her best finish in a Grand Slam was a fourth round appearance in Wimbledon, the American is on a comeback trail and has started the season on a positive note.
- She won the Adelaide International final just a week ago and is continuing her form in the Australian Open.
- She sailed through the first two rounds easily with straight set victories but had to dig deep against China’s Wang Qiang in the third round. After losing the first set, she came back to take the second set. But the deciding set went till the tie-breaker and Keys prevailed in the end winning the game 4-6, 6-3, 7-6.
- She then dropped just four games in the fourth round to end Paula Badosa’s eight-match winning streak.
