Ansu Fati Transfer: There have been quite a few controversies surrounding Ansu Fati in recent times. His father’s outburst on a radio channel was full of messages that Fati should leave Barcelona. It seems that his wish came true as Barcelona reportedly agreed on an exchange deal with Premier League side Wolves’ Ruben Neves. However, the timing of the deal begs the question if Fati is being let go to reserve the No. 10 jersey for the arrival of Lionel Messi. Follow La Liga LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN.

Ansu Fati was hailed as Barcelona’s ‘new Lionel Messi’ and the youngster had the talent to show for it. However, lady luck deserted the boy as he started getting injured again and again. After coming back from the series of injuries that plagued him, he has not been the same as before. He has also been getting less playing time under coach Xavi. This did not go down well with Fati’s father who did a very controversial radio interview. He spoke out about how Fati is not getting his deserved playing time. He also said that he wants Fati to move somewhere else.

Ansu Fati later revealed that he does not want to leave Barcelona. Xavi also expressed that he has faith in the player. However, according to recent reports, Barcelona have agreed on an exchange deal for Fati with the Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers. As per reports, Wolves offered Barcelona €30 million along with Ruben Neves for Ansu Fati. Fati’s agent Jorge Mendes guaranteed the club that they would get €70 million offers from Premier League top clubs. However, Wolves’ deal amounts to much more valuation than that.

Ruben Neves’ market value is at around €70-80 million and an additional €30 million is actually profitable for Barcelona. Still, at the end of the day, the youngster’s wish to leave or stay will matter the most. However, the timing of Barcelona’s agreement on a deal to sell Fati stirs up curiosity in the mind. Barcelona’s biggest obstacle to bring back Lionel Messi is their financial situation. That could be solved by either several players or reducing their wages. Many players are already playing with reduced wages, so Barcelona will have to sell players.

Another obstacle on the way of the prodigal son’s return is his iconic No. 10 jersey. Lionel Messi is synonymous with his No. 10 jersey at both Argentina and Barcelona. That’s why if he comes back to Barcelona, they would want to keep the No. 10 jersey in reserve for him. Right now, that jersey is worn by Ansu Fati. Fati’s father has already questioned the club’s faith in the boy. At this point, if they ask back for the jersey, that could lead to bad morale in the dressing room. Barcelona could not afford it considering the several issues they are dealing with now.

Barcelona could get rid of many more players to bring Leo Messi and other new players they are targeting this summer. Along with Ansu Fati, they could be selling Jordi Alba, Raphinha, Eric Garcia, Franck Kessie, and Ferran Torres. There are players, like Inigo Martinez from Athletic Bilbao and Roberto Firmino from Liverpool who reportedly have already agreed to deals with Barcelona. La Liga will not approve the registration of Lionel Messi and these players if Barcelona don’t sell enough players to get on the right side of Financial Fair Play.
