The SAFF Cup is scheduled to take place in Bangalore from June 21 to July 4, with Pakistan's team expected to be in India from June 18 to July 5.

SAFF Cup: Pakistan’s football team has received the green light from the Indian government to participate in the upcoming South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Cup. A report on Geo News confirmed on Wednesday that the All India Football Federation (AIFF) received clearance from the Indian government to host the Pakistan football team during the tournament.

The report claims that India’s sports, interior, and foreign ministers have granted all the necessary clearances for Pakistan’s participation in the prestigious regional football competition.

The SAFF Cup is scheduled to take place in Bangalore from June 21 to July 4, with Pakistan’s team expected to be in India from June 18 to July 5.

The report added that the AIFF has sent an email to the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF), providing them with all the required documents and an official invitation letter. Additionally, these documents have been forwarded to the Indian embassies in Islamabad and Mauritius to facilitate the issuance of visas for the members of the Pakistan football team.

The clearance from the Indian government comes as a relief for fans who were concerned that they will not witness an India vs Pakistan game due to visiting team’s potential exclusion from the tournament due to political tensions between the two nations.

Notably, India is set to play Pakistan in their opening SAFF Championship game on June 21.

NO TRAVEL to Pakistan for Indian Cricket Team

Meanwhile, the Indian Government and the Board of Control For Cricket in India (BCCI) have taken a strong stance and confirmed that the Indian cricket team won’t travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup in September. The 2023 edition, which has been allotted to Pakistan, is on the verge of shifting to a neutral venue after Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan backed out of their proposed ‘Hybrid Model’.
